The second phase will now be limited to night time closure only. the A137 will be closed from the over pass (Bridge) to the mini roundabout at the B1456 / A137 / Wherstead Rd and both associated E/b slip roads will be closed ; Friday 12.08.22 / 20.00 hrs - 6am Saturday 13.08.22 / 20.00hrs - 6am Sunday 14.08.22 / 20.00hrs to 6am OUTSIDE OF THESE HOURS THE A137 AND A14 E/b SLIPS WILL BE OPEN! We have also added an additional diversion allowing LGV / family cars to take a shorter diversion route A road to A road diversion for HGV will remain the same.

Sunken Area on the High Street

Notice to Residents Manningtree Town Council are aware of the sunken area in Manningtree High Street this has been reported to Essex County Council and has subsequently been investigated. It has been confirmed by Anglian water that after carrying out some testing on their sewer and they believe they have a failure that will require excavation of the road to get down to the problem. In the meantime they have made safe the sunken area until such a time as they will then get there to undertake the further works required. Met Office Severe Weather Warning

Following on from the extremely hot weather we have experienced over the last couple of days, the Met Office have now issued a severe weather warning for Thunderstorm for our area. This warning is valid from 1300 Wednesday 20th July until 2100 Wednesday 20th July. Please see attached for further details. In advance of the predicted record-breaking temperatures over the coming week, and as I said at yesterday's County Council meeting, I am keen to mobilise the people of Essex. We have many tens of thousands of people living on their own or in small households and how, through age or illness, are vulnerable. Many live in homes which offer little respite. The county council and other agencies are creating plans to meet the needs of those they know about, but there are far, far more whom we do not know. We need to encourage everyone to think about the people who they know, or whom they don't know but live nearby, and who might be vulnerable to extreme heat. …

Platinum Jubilee Beach Party

Manningtree Town Council were so happy to have an amazing Celebration with the residents of Manningtree on the first evening if the nationwide celebration of the Queens Platinum Jubilee. We were serenaded by a wonderful local singer, Graham Long encompassing many hits from the Queens Reign. We served a wonderful Hog Roast for free, which had mostly been paid for with a donation from the National Lottery, we also served free soft drinks (helped with a donation from the Co-op). At the end of the evening we held a candle light procession through the Town to mark the official Lighting of the Beacon, finished off with prayers and the national Anthem.
